Finding Calm Lent Devotional

There’s a powerful Gospel story of Jesus and the disciples get hit by a storm while out in their boat. While Jesus naps in the stern, the waves start coming up over the sides and the disciples wonder: does he even care that we’re going to drown in the storm?

What we forget in this story, is that Jesus got just as wet as the disciples. He was getting tossed and turned, too. In the same way, Jesus is with us in the storms of our own lives. He doesn’t abandon us in the boat to fend for ourselves. Instead, soaking wet from the crashing waves, he stands up and speaks peace, inviting us into the calm.
